ABOUT US
We are here to support our community
Welcome Table is a source of community for neighbors creating abundance together in East Austin. We honor each other by nourishing mind, body, and spirit. Founded in 2011 by parishioners of St. James' Episcopal Church, we are an independent nonprofit carrying forward a legacy of radical hospitality that began in 1941. Whomever you are and wherever you are, you are welcome at this table.
We meet our mission through two signature programs: Freedom Schools and Neighbor 2 Neighbor.
CDF Freedom Schools Austin is a year-round, culturally responsive family support network. Children are surrounded by books that reflect their cultures, caring adults who know their names, and daily affirmations of who they are. This enriching, year-round experience culminates each year in a free, six-week summer literacy and STEAM program for scholars ages 6–11.
Neighbor 2 Neighbor nourishes the body and spirit, sharing food, diapers, and utility assistance with neighbors in our target zip codes 78702, 78721, 78723, 78724, 78741, and 78752.
