Recursos para el este de Austin durante COVID19

About Neighbor 2 Neighbor

Neighbor 2 Neighbor provides food, emergency assistance, and caring community for Austin’s low income seniors and families.

While COVID-19 limits our community interactions, currently we are partnered with Good Apple, Inc. and St. James’ Episcopal Church to safely package and deliver food, diapers, and utilities assistance. We are still accepting volunteers who work to package foods in a socially-distanced way. Please visit tiny.cc/sjec to sign up.

In 2019, we served over 700 unique households. On average, neighbors are 51 years old, with 3.4 people in their household getting by on an income of $1,058 per month.

Last year, we distributed over 20,000 pounds of non-perishable food and more than 15,000 diapers and other incontinence products. We provided direct financial assistance of more than $43,000 in the form of grocery store gift cards, utility and bill pay assistance, and bus passes. In addition, we provided health education, screenings, immunizations, and social services referrals. Our loving volunteers served over 2,500 hours.
